About Us Undergraduate Studies Programs Support Undergraduate Studies
Undergraduate Studies Newsletter Summer, 2014

Message from the Dean

This newsletter highlights some of the cherished successes of the past academic year, and begins the process of looking ahead to what is next. Two alumni — Kit Pardee and Steven Leonard, both 1970s graduates — honored their continuing allegiance to UMD by endowing scholarships in Undergraduate Studies. We are so grateful to them! Continuing this tradition of accomplishment, our students closed out the year winning an impressive number of major awards — including top rankings nationwide in National Scholarships. Individual programs were also recognized, especially the Honors College Entrepreneurship program. Our new program, Global Semester in Washington, DC, got off to a fast start in its inaugural year. Turning another page to the future, there are exciting new appointments in College Park Scholars and in the Dean’s office. We also encourage you to read the TERP Magazine article on the courage shown by Bill Dorland, Executive Director of the Honors College. Read and enjoy.
