Colonel Jens D. Lyndrup has been appointed as the Air Force ROTC’s new commander, joining the Office of Undergraduate Studies for the new academic year.
Col Lyndrup comes to UMD from Hawaii, where he served as commander of the 515th Air Mobility Operations Wing at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. He previously commanded the 660th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron and the 721st Air Mobility Operations Group and has served in a variety of operational, leadership, and staff positions at United States Transportation Command, Headquarters United States Air Force, and United States Air Forces in Europe.
Col Lyndrup received his commission from Officer Training School in 1999 after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in history from Appalachian State University. He is also a graduate of the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies and a distinguished graduate of the National War College. He is a senior navigator with more than 2,200 flight hours, including 800 combat hours, in C-130E/H/H2 mobility aircraft.
As professor of aerospace studies and commander of Detachment 330, Col Lyndrup leads eight cadre members in instructing a curriculum covering the foundation, doctrine, and history of the Air Force and Space Force, as well as leadership fundamentals and national security affairs.
