The Phi Beta Kappa Society
Gamma of Maryland, University of Maryland
Welcome!
Phi Beta Kappa was founded by students at the College of William and Mary in 1776, at the outset of the American Revolution. These students were dedicated to a broad intellectual grounding, open debate, and living lives of consequence. Being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa today recognizes a student's participation in the great questions that stir and educate people and indicates the student's valuing of higher education and democracy. Congratulations to those who join this prestigious honor society!
